The real time collection of data by AVEA PI System has been beneficial to our Asset Performance Management. We can now monitor equipment status in real-time and avoid equipment failure that would require costly repair.

The problem I have come across is the inability to combine data easily across the data sources. This leads to the development of data silos which turn into an issue while getting a broad perspective of the condition of an asset.
AVEA PI System becomes very hard to get the right insights and trends if you don't have a good statistical analysis framework in place. Analyzing all this data is a time-consuming and laborious process and can be cumbersome to our maintenance team.

OSIsoft PI offers excellent technology
The PI System is a great piece of engineering and offers the best historian in my opinion for larger organizations. The technical support skills is excellent and solutions to problems are found in no time. The engineering and sales support side is very immature and my recommendation is to go with a 3rd party.
