Overview

Product Information on AWS Fargate

Updated 13th October 2025

What is AWS Fargate?

AWS Fargate is a software offered by Amazon Web Services that enables users to run containers without managing servers or clusters. The software handles provisioning, configuring, and scaling of compute resources needed to run containerized applications. AWS Fargate integrates with orchestration services such as Amazon Elastic Container Service and Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service, allowing for automatic resource allocation and isolation at the task or pod level. This software aims to address operational overhead by automating infrastructure management, which assists businesses in deploying and managing applications in a scalable and secure manner.

AWS Fargate Pricing

AWS Fargate is software that follows a pay-as-you-go pricing model, where charges are based on the requested compute and storage resources for running containers. Pricing depends on the CPU and memory resources specified for each task and the duration of task execution. Additional charges may apply for data transfer, EBS storage, and optional features such as task protection and ephemeral storage. No Profile found

CRITICAL

“Redeployment Delays and Frequent Outages Reported in Cloud Service Operations”

2.0
Nov 27, 2025
The service is very slow. We run one container because the service isn't and can't be highly available. Unfortunately, the redeployment takes random time. From 2 mins to 12 mins. If the outage lasts too long, the service will be unavailable in the meantime. I would expect the redeployment in seconds nowadays. Also, updates of this service are very often and automatically reloads this service, causing other interruptions.

    Nov 20, 2025
With the deployment of AWS Fargate in the company, we have gained operational efficiency, we no longer have to worry about infrastructure management with our IT team, however this change entails constantly controlling and monitoring costs and the allocation of resources in containers.

Operational Simplicity Increases but Higher Costs and Cold Starts Noted With Fargate

I used Fargate to run containerized workloads without managing EC2 nodes. This removes a significant operational burden. Scaling, patching, and node lifecycle management are no longer a concern The tradeoff is a higher per-task cost compared to normal nodes

AWS Fargate Likes & Dislikes

Like

Ease of construction Easy to monitor High security

Like

It works more-or-less out of the box. It's configured via Terraform.

Like

Among the strengths I can highlight about Fargate are: 1. It frees the Infrastructure team from patching, routine operating system maintenance, and security patches for the hosts. 2. Immediate provisioning of resources (CPU and RAM), guaranteeing application availability. 3. By running tasks on their own dedicated kernel, robust security isolation between workloads is ensured.

Dislike

Errors are difficult to identify, can be costly, and frequent updates can lead to downtime

Automated Translation from Japanese
Dislike

Very long redeployment times. It's just a container, it starts locally in 1-2 seconds. Why it can't start in the same time in cloud?

Dislike

Among the product's weaknesses, I can mention the following: 1. Being a serverless solution, it lacks the ability to perform in-depth operating system diagnostics independently, requiring the use of AWS's specialized support. 2. While the pay-as-you-go model is simple, without proper management of an application deployed with these services, costs can quickly escalate and become more expensive than manual EC2 management. 3. Although this service integrates well into a virtual private cloud environment, implementation within a more complex network ecosystem can present challenges in a Fargate architecture.
