It's great for active system writing . You must freeze or snapshot the database because files that are modified during transfer may not import correctly.

However, scheduling shipments can sometimes add time, and very large projects may require multiple devices. It's also less cost-effective for smaller or recurring data loads.

Device is complex to use, but provides a great service when you get the right information. We had a difficult time working with AWS to get all of the permissions/security correct out of the gate and understanding how to physically transfer the data to the device.
