The best part is how easy it is to extend existing VMware workloads into the cloud without needing to refactor everything. The integration with AWS services is seamless, which lets us scale resources up or down quickly when demand changes. The reliability and performance are excellent - latency is low, and everything feels stable even under heavy workloads. I also appreciate the unified management console, it feels like working with our on-prem environment, just more flexible.
It has a lot of legacy elements from ESXI.
Transparency of the migration process. NSX integration, even though demanding, gave us a level of visibility and microsegmentation we simply didn't have on-prem.
Price can be quite high, especially if you don't optimize your usage. The setup and networking configuration are also a bit complex at first - definitely not plug and play. Monitoring and cost visibility could be more intuitive, as it's easy to lose track of spending between VMware and AWS.
Broadcom being in the driver seat post acquisition.
Cost management feels like walking on eggshells. Storage usage and egress fees can spike in ways that catch you off guard.
