We love the strong integration with Jira and Confluence, enabling end-to-end traceability from requirements to code and deployment. Our focus was also to make sure certain teams get granular permissions and access control, which aligns well with banking security and complaince requirements. Good support for Git-based workflow across multiple teams in the bank.
The good thing is that the company is using other Atlassian products. It has built in CI/CD for automated builds and deployment. There is good branch permission management, so it can be easy to choose who gets access.
1. Strong integration with Jira and the Atlassian ecosystem, enabling excellent traceability between code and issues. 2. Clean and intuitive pull request and code review experience, including inline comments and approvals. 3. Built-in Bitbucket Pipelines for CI/CD, which simplifies automation for the most common workflows. 4. Fine-grained branch permissions and access control suitable for teams and enterprise use.
In some areas we dislike, the UI can feel slow and outdated compared to competitors. Repository performance degrades with very large codebases. And last limited advanced analytics and reporting out of the box.
Merging requests can be difficult because of the complexity of how it works. Also, in order to make everything work smoothly, you should have more Attlasian products and if you don't it can be very costly. So it is not suitable for small companies. It's also not suitable for personal use, so it might be harder to learn and practice.
1. Bitbucket Pipelines can feel limited for highly complex CI/CD use cases compared to some specialized tools. 2. Debugging pipeline failures could be more intuitive with better logs and error explanations. 3. Some advanced repo insights and analytics features are limited without additional tooling or integrations.
