We can do everything we need for VOD in one platform. Upload, attach captions, generate screenshots, and create playlists. The ability to use remote assets uploaded to AWS is truly unique and one of the things that keeps us with Brightcove year after year.
It's straightforward, user-friendly, and fairly reliable.
Ease of use. Brightcove has made tweaks over the years which make it intuitive and quicker to engage with. I don't use the product everyday, but when I need to, it's usually for a quick look at analytics or to upload a video and grab the embed code. It seemed to take much longer on all these tasks when I first started using the app, but the process has been streamlined quite a bit.
Support can sometimes be difficult. I've identified a number of bugs over the years and I sometimes feel gaslit. (Someone obviously fixes the bug, responds saying they don't see the issue, and asks if I still need help...)
There have been some new features since I started using Brightcove, and I was excited to see that I could edit a text track directly on the platform. Unfortunately, when I do this, it creates bugs like deleting spaces or inserting random characters in subtitles. The worst part is that it doesn't create errors consistently so it's hard to avoid whatever is causing them.
Besides not having admin access so I can create my own players, more options for search besides plain text input. How many videos are less than a minute? Videos posted by user, etc.
