FAVORABLE

“CMX is very useful/neat but difficult to implement correctly.”

The experiences I've had with CMX have been good. The only downfall is our location is off and seems to "jump" about 10-15 meters. We recently upgraded wireless controllers (5520s) and APs (4800s) but we did not take into account that we have to have AP's around the very perimeter of our sales floor. We put them about 10-15 feet in to allow for better coverage and use less APs. This caused our problem of not being able to locate correctly. Other than that, I've had good experiences with the analytics and what tracking we can do.

CRITICAL

“CMXin a High availability setup is not a matured solution”

Cisco CMX system is very unstable in a high availability setup. If you have a very large environment, CMX system may not cope up with the load and have seen it crash many times.

Cisco Connected Mobile Experiences (CMX) Likes & Dislikes

Like

You can do so much with it and hold very useful analytics for business purposes. It's a very versatile tool.

Like

It is a good system to store all the information for analytics using API

Like

CMX has an easy to use interface. It also allows easy integration to pull data from Prime (granted you are on similar software versions). It is also very easy to update.

Dislike

The ability to narrowly track down locations is limited to how many APs you have in the vicinity, less APs means less accurate. In order to track down at a very minuscule scale you would have an over saturation of APs for how powerful the new 4800s are.

Dislike

The stability of the system.

Dislike

CMX can be unstable at times. I have had multiple times where it will be inaccessible and will need a reboot in order to get it working again. And other times where services will randomly stop working and will need a restart.

Implementation was Easy, But CMX can often be unstable

Cisco CMX has allowed us to take a deeper look into our wireless network, and to provide data on where the "hotspots" of our campuses are. It allows allows us to track assets throughout our campuses, and integrates well with our Cisco WLCs and Prime Infrastructure. Unfortunately we have noticed some stability problems, but these get less frequent with software updates.

Since we used Cisco CMX we have not had any kind of problem in the company. Its wide API interface provides us with an incredible Wi-Fi network speed.
