Performance of Cisco Umbrella Across Market Features
Cisco Umbrella Likes & Dislikes
The qualities which I really liked about the product are : 1) Strong threat intel - Cisco Umbrella is integrated with Cisco Talos and also uses machine learning and real time data to stop attacks 2) Cloud based environment - Since it's a SAAS based solution so it becomes really helpful to scale the solution as per the requirement. 3) Fast performance and efficiency - the performance observed by the users is remarkable
It linked into our Meraki dashboard well that we use for our Firewall and network management
Integration with other Cisco solutions. The replication time to the clients is a good thing too. Agent installation to the clients have different ways, which makes it easy for those who are managing.
The things which I disliked about the product are : - 1) Multiple licenses - it has multiple licenses and the features are limited to different types of licenses, for example the feature to integrate the users from DUO is limited to higher license only. The licensing tiers are also complex and users get confused in it sometims 2) Cost and expenses - The cost is higher than the other DNS security competitors. 3) Integrations - integrating with 3rd part tools and also with AD and other IDp is a complex task and sometimes the connectors used to integrate doesn't work so they ahve to be changed as per the customer's environment requirements
Poor support, constantly loosing users and policies and overall bad performance
I don't like when we use LDAP to use the access based on AD groups. If you have 200 policies created, you need to create different combinations for the groups or users, because the application reads the policies from top to down, if it matches, it stops to read anything left.

Cisco Umbrella Delivers Robust DNS Security and Efficient Cloud-Based Protection
My overall experience with Cisco Umbrella has been very good. It has a stong DNS layer security and it blocks the malicious domains before establishing a connection with them . It is also a cloud-based SAAS solution so it works well for all types of users like remote users, on premise users, etc. - DIRECTOR OF IT<50M USDConstructionReview Source
Integration With Meraki Dashboard Positive, But Reliability and Support Concerns Remain
We trialed this software for several weeks with it linked to our Microsoft Azure tenant, the software proved to be very unreliable with it constantly loosing the settings we had set, policies not being applied. Support from Cisco on this was very patchy with them based in the West Coast of the USA only. - IT PROVIDER MANAGEMENT CONNECTIVITY1B-10B USDConstructionReview Source

Cisco Umbrella Provides Reliable Security Logs But SSL Inspection Can Cause Issues
Cisco Umbrella is used for Web Protection and in conjunction with Cisco AnyConnect also as a Supplicant for 802.1x. Web Security is solid, it has good audit logs and allows us to protect our organisation from malicious websites. - AI Developer<50M USDIT ServicesReview Source
Reliable Web Filtering Tool Balances Powerful Features With Configuration Complexity
It has been a reliable addition as a cybersecurity framework, and offers strong protection against a variety of threats. Its cloud-based architecture and seamless integration with existing systems have been major strengths, but the initial setup and some advanced configuration options presented challenges. Overall, it’s a powerful tool for DNS-layer security and web filtering, though it requires some effort to fully optimize.
