“Effective code scanning and SBOM, though workflow setup could be smoother”

Jun 16, 2026
Overall well please with Cortex Cloud in regards to the code scanning capabilities and SBOM generation. It's provided the capability of being a single pane of glass for auditing CI/CD pushes, secret scanning, full repo inventorying, and allowed us to start working to establish policy enforcement around the code commits and code scanning in the repos.

Cortex has been a very good application control tool, also using AI to generate vulnerability detection alerts. It controls program or hardware exceptions detected on computers.

Overall, Cortex Cloud serves its purpose well being a CNAPP with its coverage for Cloud DSPM, Client Workload Protections, Code Scanning and by presenting vulnerability information. Where it could be better is by staying modern with the integrated solutions that it offers.

Solid cloud security platform with strong detection capabilities, though onboarding requires patience

Cortex has been a reliable addition to our security stack. The platform covers a wide range of threat detection scenarios and integrates reasonably well with our existing infrastructure. There's a learning curve during initial setup, but once configured, the day-to-day operation is smooth.

One of the best tool that i have worked in our organization. The Cortex Cloud will correlates all type of events, logs that as Posture, Identities, workloads, runtime, Vulnerability, DSPM, Shift left, etc. The best feature the tool having is the centralized dashboard where we can see all the integrated data at one place.

Good solution but don't get too excited!

We had a lot of issues originally with network enforcement being enabled but it is stable now. There were (and still are) issues with certificate handling, especially for the SSL inspection feature which we had to implement a manual workaround, and it was really time consuming for our Security team.

Performance of Cortex Cloud Across Market Features

Cortex Cloud Likes & Dislikes

Like

The most stand out feature to me is the Supply Chain Catalog. Cortex analyzes our repository and builds a list of tie ins and defines their purposes with a brief description and link to documentation where more can be read on the item. Additionally, they provide the capability for us to approve or deny the tie in and leave comments. It helps have have a better understanding of dependencies in our code base. It even tracks usage.

Like

Its genius for controlling conditions by team using labels, its ability to manage security agent updates on teams

Like

Cortex Cloud's strength is in it's ability to be a single source of truth across the protection and reporting modules that it offers. We were able to get buy-in from several teams due to this capability alone.

Dislike

While the reporting is clearly the strength, the one piece that needs better definition in being defined is how to create and establish the periodic scanning. Granted we are still early in the implementation of this solution, however, it is not made apparently clean without having to consult documentation.

Dislike

We owe you with the management of encryption

Dislike

When it comes to areas in which they could benefit the most from by improving are the querying language used to build reports, the surprising lack of compatibility that the CWP endpoint agent does not have with VMs and other Azure computer resources, and lastly the aforementioned issue when it comes built-in integrations.
