For us it was the only product in the market that would allow to centralize, in a easy way, a data catalog from multiple database technologies (Key pair, SQL, MongoDB, etc.). Product has a lot of features and I really loved how great was customer support and how eager they were to listen for new features/improvements for the next release.

Great catalog capabilities and the possibility to run it on-prem or using a pre-configured EC2 on AWS.
Manual exportation of data can be downloaded in an excel format. Unique keys identification. Support of multiple databases.
Intuitive UI, price is very affordable. This is a great tool to start your metadata repository journey
no issues, would be nice to have a built in feature to import xls/xml data description for tables and more multi-user management features.
If compared to SQL, few high end features are still missing. Cannot be exported in Word format
Data Classification and lineage features are very basic and limited

Good metadata management tool.

Many features realised that fit perfect in the user requirements, stable and relyable.
Installation very easy, usecases really oriented on my requirements. I was looking for a tool to document the structure of our MSSQL Databases and store the documentation in its own database. Dataedo is obviously the only tool that follows that approach. The export to pdf and html works very fine. Many nice features, e.g. "uses" and "used by" shows at tables and views where they are used in other views. Additional its a poor mans backup of skripts. Already a great tool that just keeps getting better
We implemented Dataedo about 3 or 4 years ago. The driver then was mostly to develop data dictionaries for our bespoke systems. Dataedo was exactly what we were looking for in terms of features and pricing (we are a small non-for -profit organisation). The team at Dataedo have always been very responsive and receptive to customer feedback. Implementation was easy and long term benefits are huge
Implementation of Dataedo was straight forward and quick to do. The tool is great for us as we have very little previous database documentation and it was all stored in the developers heads. Going through the time to input all the information of course takes time but once it is there the ability to search and navigate the database is great. Dataedo is especially useful when new staff start or we work with a new vendor as it helps them get up to speed with our database so much quicker UPDATED - We have since i originally wrote the review started a project designing and building a new database. My role in this is the data migration from the old system to the new, to say that Dataedo has been useful during this project would be a massive understatement. We upgraded to the latest version which meant i was able to use the web based interface which as been a dream to navigate and so quick as well.
