The release dashboard is the amazing tab! I just fell in love with it since I started working on it, secondly, I now don't have to worry about people entering wrong inputs to my Jenkins job! since the input is validated in XL release task!
Release orchestration is awesome.
Complete features for release orchestration and ability to extend and customize the environment. In our case, we added deployment automation for Software AG WebMethods (a niche not available out of the box). The release audit reporting added in the latest releases provide a lot of value in our regulated business case. The newly added blueprints feature is powerful and provides improved ease of use and time to value.
Nothing to dislike but there is always room for improvment. ;) I hate when I have to search for the release that we have created, the view should show which template is used to create a release directly on release page.
Developing plugin is not straight forward
The product has a non-trivial learning curve and initial ramp up services were very helpful in making our use of the product effective.

Great Release Orchestration tool but not much support
Release orchestration provided by this tool is great. You can literally hook anything in to the release pipeline. We have seen few issues of memory leaks but the tool is quite stable now. Best for software development organizations
XL is being used by multiple groups in my consulting software development organizations where a release control framework is needed. The main purpose is to allow the fine control of timing between both manual and automatic release activities. The tool acts as a workflow manager for the marketing, documentation, project management, and deployment scripts that combine to release a new major version. We use it sometimes for minor releases but only if there is cross-team coordination. Pros are as follows: 1 . Cross-team release workflow control using email, texts, scripts allow our release 2 management to be truly a 360 process. 2. XL Release allowing our Jenkins toolchain to control the beginning of release trains which is very powerful. 3 .XL release allows us to expose the business process flow for anyone to read direct at the source which runs the process instead of a separate vision. Cons are: 1 . XL release is really only missing a consolidated calendar view where you can see the planned activity for the next month, it only knows about what is in progress. XL release fits very well when you need cross-team coordination in a release process where you want to coordinate an alpha or beta program with marketing as part of a major release process.
