Cisco Duo provides security-first Identity and Access Management (IAM) that protects organizations from identity-based threats. Duo includes all the necessary components to serve as your sole IAM platform or seamlessly integrate with and fortify your existing identity providers, operating as a unified defense layer across your identity infrastructure. By embedding critical protections like broad-based MFA and device trust into the company’s base offering, Duo eliminates the "security tax" often imposed by traditional IAM vendors. Essential security is on by default—not a costly, complex upgrade. As a result, Duo addresses advanced threats while delivering a seamless experience that users and admins embrace.
Duo Pricing
Duo offers three pricing tiers: Essentials ($3/user/mo) includes security-first IAM, phishing-resistant MFA, passwordless, SSO, AI Assistant, and Trusted Endpoints. Advantage ($6/user/mo) adds continuous identity security, cross-platform visibility, posture management (ISPM), and threat detection and response (ITDR). Premier ($9/user/mo) adds VPN-less remote access via Duo Network Gateway.

Duo Likes & Dislikes
Duo balances strong security with a user-friendly design. The platform integrates smoothly with our existing systems, offers clear visibility into authentication activity, and provides flexible options for enforcing MFA policies. The support and documentation have also been excellent, which has made deployment and troubleshooting much easier.
it's mostly easy to support. easy to add apps to the SSO expreince. decent documentation
The things that I like the most are : 1) Easy MFA methods for users, duo push is very handy 2) strong security without impacting any user - 3) Visibility - The visibility is very good as it shows granular visibility about users, their auth method, device, time, policy applied, etc 4) Centralized admin console - use duo dashboard to manage apps, policies, users, SAML, etc.
Not much to hate. Just wish there was better accessibility for the Duo Windows Login when prompted with a number challenge. The number is small and users struggle to locate it promptly. It would also help if there were more customizations for the Windows login prompt (like adjusting size or color contrast for accessibility). Lastly, offline login handling could be smoother; users sometimes get confused when there's no clear indication of what to do without an internet connection. I also think it would be helpful to every so often prompt the user for a re-enrollment for offline (make it optional) so it might catch those who get new phones and miss re-enrollment for offline.
Unable to back up the client. They expect you to use google to back up the DUO client but google is often blocked due to DLP restrictions and even when it is not blocked, users still have problems backing up DUO. Moving from one phone to another phone is a HUGE horrible experience. losing access to websites and having to contact each vendor to gain access again can take days and even weeks.
Things which I found as hinderence in the DUO are : 1. Network connection - it requires a good network connection to sync updates and policies and under bad netowrk there might be delays . 2. integration - integration with certain apps and components requires complex and additional configuration 3. offline access - available but a bit complex process
