Overall this has been a good experience. I came into the project a bit later, but most people at Exterro were extremely helpful and willing to catch me up to speed. We did have to change project managers halfway through the process, which did lengthen the implementation. But our new project manager is fabulous. The tech team has been easy to work with as well. There have been some issues pertaining to our own hardware/IT issues that Exterro's tech team have been very patient with, and have been able to offer viable solutions. Overall, a really good experience.

Whilst the product we use is very good, we keep running into bugs, where some may get resolved, while others still remain. We raise them through various channels, the support is mixed on how it may get handled. Simple expectations are not always met.

    Migration Challenges Attributed to Poor Communication and Lack of Adequate Documentation

    Terrible migration from Legal Hold Pro due to fundamentally not understanding (or trying to understand) their client's data. This, coupled with poor communication, lack of project management, lack of knowledgeable resources, and lack of documentation has made this project double in cost and time spent. Outside of the migration, the tool itself lacks basic functionality and reporting that was previously available in Legal Hold Pro. It is overly complicated with no payoff for the end users or administrators.

    The classic UI is not super intuitive but not having been fully trained on the new interface, I'm less familiar with how to do all the same things I was taught to do in classic.

Exterro Legal Hold Likes & Dislikes

Like

One of the things I like best about Exterro is the ease of movement within the platform. Things are labeled intuitively and there are multiple avenues to get to screens; you aren't locked into only following a single route. Additionally, the training opportunities which Exterro provides are extensive and comprehensive. The trainers are always willing to answer a quick email and they speak plainly--no need to decipher tech-speak, for those less technology literate. And finally I like that Exterro is a sortof one stop shop for all things legal that we might need. We can create and manage legal holds. We can collect and collate documents. We can either review them ourselves or send them to outside counsel for review. All of this within one platform!

Like

The uptime on the product is exceptional for the most part, however, I feel that many times, I seem to be the one reporting on issued before any other customers. Either I'm a power user of Exterro needs to have more checks in place to monitor their own product. I think for the most part Tech Support (India based) is fantastic, they are generally fast to respond and get most items taken care of as needed. There have been a very few times, there have been some issues that passed what we would consider a reasonable amount of time.

Like

1. The latest AI enhancements are phenomenal and will quickly pay for themselves. 2. My account team has a genuine vested interest in my success. 3. The support team is second to none. They continue to go above and beyond.

Dislike

I do dislike having to switch between classic and modern view. I understand this is something that is still in the works, and truly it doesn't impede our workflow. It would just be nice to not jump back and forth. One thing that would have been nice is if our salesperson had more technical understanding and if he were able to get back to us in a timely fashion with regard to technical related questions that he could not answer. Having to wait on his responses slowed down our process which was already impeded by our ITs process. I do have an issue with the training. While I love the live training and the ability to interact real-time with the trainers, I do not like the lack of a take-away, whether that be a single sheet handout or a slide deck. Something that I could take back to my team would be hugely beneficial. We are having to create a use document based on repeated training courses and personal experience so that we have internal documentation for the processes which other users can refer to at need. The amount of time being taken away from work in order to attend additional training sessions or to build the use document is substantial and could be alleviated with a brief handout detailing the process covered.

Dislike

Mixed on what level of support I receive. I find areas that need improvement and question as to why items do/do not work and feels like it falls on deaf ears. Projects take an excessive amount of time. Example, if the agreement states 6 weeks (seems standard in most our items), why are we still working on it 4 months later. Issues with getting timely responses is also an ongoing area that needs improvement too.

Dislike

1. The existing reporting tool is difficult to understand and use, though the new version should address existing shortcomings. 2. It's challenging to find user manuals on the support site. 3. The user manuals which do exist need to have more examples of how to execute specific tasks or settings configurations.
