I really like how easy it is to see if our switches need updates. I really like how easy it is to setup a policy for wifi to set onto our AP's. I really like how easy it was to setup PPSK to allow everyone to have their own password.
I like the array of customizations available, the dedicated support and licensing agreements and the full access to the APs.
1. Centralized visibility and control. 2. It is easy to monitor device health and enforce compliance. 3. Real-time analytics and views.
Extreme Platform One that keeps coming up is confusing to us. We do not like how we are said to not mess with the switches in XIQ, as if you do command line, it can cause issues. We do not like how you have to do a full config update rather then delta adding users to PPSK
The XIQ development cycle could use some improvement. Some APs ship missing features which are added later in a patch, and while there are many features, some features are reportedly not implemented properly with even GTAC recommending turning them off. We have also experienced some bugs which can take a long time to fix. Some more QA would be helpful. Extreme's wireless offering is largely missing the robust alerting features offered by its competitors. For example, if a DHCP/DNS server servicing the wireless clients fails, there is no ability to get an email alert from XIQ. This is the biggest issue we have when comparing XIQ wireless with other vendors, who all implement robust alerting and monitoring. As of the time of this review, Extreme is shifting over from ExtremeCloud IQ to PlatformOne, and prioritizing development. In my humble opinion, ExtremeCloud IQ could still use some QA around some of the advanced features. There has been conflicting information regarding which AP models will be supported by the new UI. Some GTAC technicians are absolutely brilliant Wifi experts in the field for many years, however some seem less familiar with Wifi and Extreme's platforms. Quality of assigned technicians varies greatly, although I usually have a good experience. You can call in directly and work with someone with relatively little wait time in the US.
1. Main issue is Vulnerability support. There is no proper response from the team for Vulnerability closure. Most of the old vulnerabilities need to be fixed in the new release but that is not seen. 2. Interface can feel complex for new users 3. Integration with third party tools could be more seamless.
