It adds a layer of resilience beyond traditional antivirus/EDR solutions and supports regulatory expectations around incident readiness, data recovery and business continuity. Additionally, Halcyon's threat research team is constantly monitoring alerts and detections, which typically results in overrides performed directly by that team who has manually triaged the alert. Talk about hands on service! This team is on the ball and never misses a beat. Lastly, their support has been fantastic thus far. If we have any questions, Halcyon support responses are detailed and informative, which usually contain recommended actions we should take to address any incidents or alerts in question.
I like that Halcyon is purpose-built for ransomware. It layers multiple anti-ransomware detection and response engines (pre-execution, behavioral, and key capture), and it can autonomously recover encrypted systems in most cases. The fact that it is designed to play nice with existing endpoint security tools, working with them instead of aiming to replace them, is a major strong point. The inclusion of 24/7 ransomware detection, response and recovery services at no extra cost is a major bonus.
One of the standout strengths of the Halcyon platform is its multi-layered defense model. By combining early-stage behavioral analysis, real-time encryption detection, and rollback capabilities, Halcyon delivers not just prevention but also business continuity. The rollback feature is particularly valuable- it ensures that even if a ransomware attack manages to encrypt files, systems can be restored with minimal disruptions
Managing exceptions and overrides isn't very intuitive, particularly when it comes to linking the correct Asset ID and configuring overrides. As they say, If you don't use it, you lose it. Working within the console takes practice to navigate effectively. That said, Halcyon's support team is responsive and always willing to walk you through the process when needed. Additionally, it would be beneficial if the platform allowed users to add notes or descriptions directly to overrides, providing quick context for why an exception was created. Currently, these justifications need to be tracked separately in an external spreadsheet, which adds extra steps to the workflow.
The user interface seems weak, but it does the job and I'm not sure I would need more features even though it seems simplistic.
There is a lack of functionality for reporting and gathering KRI/KPI metrics in the Halcyon Platform
