IDP workflows provide an excellent full self-service gateway and are a strong enabler for teams. SCS is convenient to have natively within the platform rather than rely on 3rd party tools. Unified platform approach simplifies CI/CD security and governance across the SDLC.
Compelling product roadmap, engineering is very agile and new features are delivered frequently
1. Simplified pipeline creation with visual interface - user friendly drag and drop interface for pipeline creation. Abstracts away the complexities of building pipelines. 2. AIDA and AI related features - an interactive DevOps assistant to help troubleshoot failures and create pipelines from scratch. 3. Automated rollbacks - harness can automatically revert to previous stable version without manual intervention
Product maturity and performance - some newer modules feel GA before being fully enterprise ready, leading to rework(IDP v1 to v2, FF migrations, 1st Gen to Next Gen)
The internal culture appears to be aligned with the mantra move fast and break things. This has impacted the availability and reliability of certain features. It has also led to us experiencing a fair amount of personnel transition from the various departments we have engaged with, which has, at times, complicated or slowed down our implementation.
1. Complex Pricing Model - since all modules are priced individually, sometimes it can get challenging to understand the pricing structure. The cost is typically tied to usage and can quickly scale up. 2. Learning curve - for teams with less experience in cicd it can be difficult to manage or fully grasp how to leverage harness's advanced features 3. Limited on prem support - harness excels in cloud native environments and has limited support for on-prem infra.

Our overall experience with Harness has been great -we were their 4th customer and the platform has become a key part of our DevOps and delivery strategy, providing both technical capabilities and clear business value. We have seen strong results from Harness STO and SCS which have helped us embed security earlier in the pipeline and improve overall security posture without slowing delivery down. These capabilities align well with our shift-left security goals.
