Integration into the hypervisor, making it hardware agnostic is the key to this disaster recovery solution. The analytics feature is a game changer, especially when working in multi-site environments. The software has also become much more lightweight to make deployments even easier.
It works when properly implemented.
Setting up and configuration of VPGs and excellent tech support (never failed to meet and provide timely solution). set it up and be at ease it will help recover from DR situations in a heart beat.
Version compatibility between sites can make it difficult at times when working in customer environments. Lack of customization for error reporting frequency and details. The terminology and acronyms take a little getting used to as well. Integration with more hypervisors and cross compatibility between those hypervisors leaves something to be desired.
The experience of the implementation. Since we did not have the properly sized targets, we had many issues with deployment. We had to purchase other services from HP to make this work.
Every time we have to upgrade VMware version, we have to move VMs from hosts that are protected by Zerto and then upgrade the ESX hosts. VRA and VRAHs spin up with different names and we have to exclude them from backup jobs manually. an End-to-End upgrade process within Zerto will be very efficient use of our time.
