High performance, good customer support and backward compatibility
It worked well for the team's needs because it had a PeopleSoft streaming connection.
- Ability to both create an API in Designer and transform it into a specification, and have a specification and transform it into services in Designer. - Open access to core functionalities. - Ability to use both flow services and Java services.
The licensing model is a bit counter-productive. Development and Testing environments should not require a license. It is very difficult to find integration engineers with experience in this platform. The software has a large footprint.
Our account manager knew from our technical lead that we planned to cancel our contract but didn't inform him about the online cancellation terms that governed our contract. In previous years our account manager specifically reminded us that renewal was coming up and asked if we planned to renew. This year our (new) account manager knew as early as January that we planned to cancel and did not tell our technical lead that we needed to provide more formal written notice. As a result, they are billing us for an another entire year. Even with the full email chain as evidence and last year's exchange documenting their previous reminders about renewal, Software AG's leadership would not budge. As a public institution of higher education we have very limited budgets, so this additional cost will mean that we do not have funds to support a full salary line.
- Very long loading time when starting Designer - The service audit logs page in MyWebMethods is exceptionally slow in our production environment compared to our test/acc environment. - Installation of fixes through Command Central isn't as straightforward as it could be (loading the complete list of fixes multiple times) and has a couple of bugs (although support is working on that already).
