Informatica MDM

Very good product for mastering the data, data lineage, UI experience.

Informatica MDM has its strengths, particularly in data integration and consolidation, which improve data accuracy and governance. It is powerful and scalable, but it has a lot of limitations, as well. Overall, it's a good tool but with a few limitations with respect to setup and usability.

Scalability is an issue, but you can do tons of customization.

My experience with Informatica MDM has been very poor. The product is aged, outdated and difficult to use. It lacks in many features that have required us to do custom workarounds for. Setting up the e360 UI screens takes a very long time (it can take dozens of clicks that are repetitive in nature) just to get a single field added to the UI. It is also very limited in what you can setup in the UI (e.g. you can't even set a default sort order for a list of child records). The product also contains lots of bugs and every upgrade introduces new ones. We continue to find new bugs often. We have seen key features of the product unexpectedly stop working or they don't work as intended. Trust Score assignment is limited (e.g. there is no out of the box way to set a higher trust value on two dates where one is greater/lesser than). The look and feel have an awful Windows 95 vibe and the initial setup of the system takes a long time as it is comprised of many parts and components that must be installed and setup separately. Lastly, the Accelerator we purchased from them is very basic - we had to scrap a decent portion of their design and modify it to work with our entity relationships. In the end the Accelerator likely cost us more time and there are now lots of unused, non necessary tables and setup that just causes the database and Hub Console to be cluttered and ugly.
