User Sentiment About Microsoft Fabric
Reviewer Insights for: Microsoft Fabric

Microsoft Fabric Likes & Dislikes

Like

It allows us to have access Fabric data storage and analytics directly in Azure. Regarding our Azure SQL databases, it processes large volumes and more complex datasets like unstructured data from our high amount of sensors.

Like

Unified platform for multiple data workloads strong integration with Microsoft ecosystem and an intuitive user friendly interface

Like

We really like that this is billed monthly in Azure consumption rather than annually in an enterprise agreement commit. It also helps us fully utilise the benefits of PowerBI within the business.

Dislike

The integration is straight forward, but the several settings and customization to fit our needs can be a little bit complex and requires a lot of time investigating and reading Microsoft documentation and forums to troubleshoot some issues.

Dislike

Some administrative and maintenance tasks can be complex and not as intuitive initial setup and configuration may require a learning curve, documentation and troubleshooting guidance could be improved in certain areas

Dislike

I don't think it's reached maturity and it requires a significant internal upskilling to be able to use it in the optimal way.

It's perfect for breaking silos between teas, using OneLake for centralized data, and leveraging AI-powered tools like Copilot for insights. Start by exploring its use for your lakehouse needs and upskilling yout team on its features. Director of IT
https://www.chaosgenius.io/blog/microsoft-fabric-vs-databricks/ is one comparison.  Probably others can be found.  Also consider using some GenAI engines to generate at least the initial content to work from.

It's powerful for end-to-end data work with nice AI integrations, but feels immature with occasional bugs and steep costs.
