High performance: By using the Dorado 8000 four-controller system to consolidate existing workloads, we were able to achieve more than double the performance.Huawei engineers analyzed the data from our mid-range products and found that they could no longer meet the performance demands during peak business periods and the data was very convincing. High efficiency: Online deduplication and compression technologies help optimize storage utilization and reduce costs. These features together form a storage solution that not only meets our current needs but also lays a solid foundation for future development and technological advancements.
In addition to the outstanding performance of the solution, I was also deeply impressed by Huawei's responsiveness, including providing a complete solution within three days and completing POC testing and resolving various issues within just 15 days. I believe that Huawei's future-oriented solutions will help us address the current challenges we face and support rapid business expansion in the future.
Huawei provided us with a comprehensive consolidation and reuse solution, which effectively planned our business and equipment. In addition, Huawei's service team always responded promptly to our team's questions and provided effective solutions. The SAN ransomware protection feature was a highlight of this project, enhancing the resilience and reliability of our business.
First, cost.The initial investment in all-flash storage can be high, which may be a challenge for organizations with tight budgets.Second,integration challenges.There may be some difficulties when integrating Dorado with existing storage systems from other vendors in a heterogeneous environment. However, these views may not apply to all users and Huawei is continuously improving its products and services.
Huawei's certification exams are not widely known and the process of obtaining relevant materials is somewhat complicated.
It is not easy to obtain related product materials and the ecosystem compatibility needs improvement. We hope to have an active user community.

It supports both SAN and NAS configurations and can also be used for our backup systems, providing us with a variety of options. In addition, the Huawei team conducted a performance analysis of our existing equipment and provided some key recommendations. For example, HDDs have higher failture rates and lower performance compared to SSDs, and utilization rate of some mid-range devices has already reached its maximum capacity, which clearly does not match the requirements of our bank's digital transformation.Based on this, Huawei proposed a unified consolidation solution.First, we upgraded to all-SSD storage.This not only doubled the performance but also improved operational efficiency by three times after consolidation.Second, we upgraded mid-range devices to high-end ones.The upgrade in hardware specifications,such as controllers,significantly enhanced system reliability, achieving 99.99999% reliability, which means that the system downtime is less than 3 seconds per year. As an IT engineer, I am more concerned about the performance, ease of operation and maintenance, and reliability of storage devices, so that we can provide better support for application teams. Currently, our storage devices are scattered and lack sufficient security protection measures. After communication with Huawei engineers, we identified potential future performance bottlenecks through the intelligent O&M platform DME.Therefore,Huawei's service team conducted a detailed health check and provided a storage consolidation solution that aligns with our bank's storage evolution strategy. First, we improved performance by integrating existing devices with Dorado 8000, achieving a transition to a 100% all-flash production storage environment. Second, we enhanced operating efficiency. Previously, the scattered devices made management complex and it took at least several weeks to upgrade a single version. After consolidation, the number of devices was reduced by nearly 80% and management efficiency improved fourfold. Third, we improved reliability. Dorado 8000 has four controllers, which greatly enhances reliability. Finally, we added SAN ransomware protection during this consolidation to address increasingly severe security threats. We purchased Dorado 5000 V6 in Active-Active NAS Disaster Recovery as our Serverless Branch NAS File repository for our 1500+ branches. Huawei provided exceptional support in implementing the Active-Active DR Solution as well as finding a solution in integrating the Dorado 5000 V6 to our existing network architecture. We also purchased the Dorado 6000 V6 for our VMWare workloads in Active-Active SAN Disaster Recovery with seamless integration. Huawei post-sales team has a fast response whenever we encounter issues with our Dorado storage whether it is hardware or software related issues.
