Personalized to the organization's needs capabilities. You can customize attributes, content transformations, workflows, integrations, etc. Most of the time, we do not need support to intervene for me to accomplish the desired outcome. The ability to govern our product data structure, add governance and validations, and have multiple product hierarchy structures working in tandem. This allows us to ensure complete product data based on the product type vs blanket completeness across all products, reducing unnecessary work. And, not to mention workflows twice, but WORKFLOWS. Our workflows solve product enrichment needs for internal users, syndication to retailers and distributors, and our direct to consumer sites, all while being customized to each endpoint and brand's needs.
I most appreciate the ability to customize the automations given the overtly complicated and layered infrastructure our organization currently has.
User Experience: Salsify is built in such an intuitive way that users can move fast and get highly creative with solutions. Being able to analyze and change data in an effective way where the pages rarely need to refresh and no matter what screen you're on there are ways to achieve what you're looking to do. Value: Salsify consistently proves its value by covering every product data, enrichment, and syndication scenario. There are so many ways to customize processes and workflows within the tool and without IT custom coded solutions. Culture: Everyone at Salsify is passionate about digital and ready to help or network to help you find solutions. They have built an amazing community around the digital shelf and pioneered movements within the industry.
I think the biggest weakness is the support. When something goes wrong, you often have to go in circles, you MUST record your experience or it will be pivoted back onto you as a user issue, or you get punted around to different teams until you are told it is an enhancement, even if the functionality had been there just weeks ago. I feel like pricing has also become a big blocker for our organization to continue adding on some of the new functionality and the app is now broken into modules where you have multiple different ways to add on to the functionality aka exponentially increasing annual pricing. They will often sunset a feature, release a new one, then require a subscription/payment for the new feature without reducing the baseline application cost, despite losing previous functionality.
The contract negotiations are quite complicated and lengthy. We often find the experience to be superfluous with overinflated price increases year over year. Salsify will also throw around pretend numbers from quarter to quarter. We also found unnecessary items added to beef up the contract.
Digital Asset Metadata capabilities can be improved. Localization can sometimes be difficult to perfect. More capabilities around inheritance control.
