Comprehensive customizing and functionalities covering planning, execution, tracking and freight transportation
Using SAP is like having a guide through the whole transportation process. Tracking shipments is done in real time and rates are readjusted based on real time conditions allowing us to give clients the most accurate estimated times of arrival and set good expectations. There are a lot of customization options and different plug-ins you can use with SAP. It has made it easier to connect different aspects of our business and streamline our operating procedures.
1. Steep data requirement: Dirty location or equipment masters cripple the optimizer cleansing is a must do project of its own. 2. User interface inconsistency: the Fiori apps look modern, but power users still need the old school GUI for some functions. 3. Limited out-of-box analytics: basic freight KPI's are there, yet you need embedded SAC or BW for deeper lane and carrier scorecards.
Being on a Trading company which operates with large transaction volumes, we saw potential risks on system performance. Most likely these may be mitigated if properly implemented in a Productive environment.
The software is difficult to learn and sometimes simple tasks can feel overly complex. When working in SAP there are a lot of additional windows that open up when you are moving through the software and it can leave your computer screen cluttered if you do not know how to sort through it all.
