Tabnine has been a boon for our engineering organization. In particular, the following are very important aspects of the tool that keep us engaged: - Private nature of the LLM interactions - this is of high importance to us and our industry - Ability to index external Bitbucket repositories for reference as part of LLM insteractions - More generally, the boost the tool gives to our engineers to increase and enhance not only their productivity but also the accuracy and quality of their work
The things I like about it is that it supports many coding languages and completes my code properly with the help of its ai assistant. It also gives me support for the multiline which is average as I say because I had to face some problems with multiline suggestions but tweaking some code gives me good results
It really just feels like a reliable autocomplete that just works. It isn't overly fancy, but it works and helps me type faster and fill in obvious code patterns. I also like that it can run locally, which is a big plus when working on sensitive projects. Setup was easy, and it started giving useful suggestions right away.
Overall we've had a great experience. There are some general issues with the plugin that we've had over time as we've rolled it out to our larger organization. Namely, the direct code application within the IDE causes users some issues where the apply operation can fail from time to time and require manual intervention. The team has been very responsive to our issues.
The issue I faced with this product is that my developers got used to it and forgot how to code properly after some time as they got dependent on tabnine. And I think it might be concerning that they can use my data for their ai model training
The suggestions can sometimes be a bit too generic. In larger or more complex projects, it doesn't always understand the full context. I've also seen it suggest older coding styles, so I've learned to use it mostly for smaller, routine tasks.

Tabnine Provides Quick Autocomplete but Lacks Context in Complex Projects
I've been using Tabnine for multiple months, mainly inside Visual Studio Code and occasionally in IntelliJ, to speed up everyday coding tasks. It's lightweight, quick, and doesn't get in the way. Most of the time I use it for writing helper functions, setting up classes, or generating repetitive code. They have a good variety of AI models, including the most recent ones. Their support is great and responds, at most, within hours of the inquiry / issue.
