DEV plus helps in code generation automation which can be used in legacy modernization. Reduces tool bloat and unnecessary tool complexity. Offers end to end automation , deployment and maintenance . Strong capability in reverse engineering and code migration , especially useful for enterprise with mainframe or COBOL systems. Helps reduce the risk and cost of legacy system transformation.
Some issues which require further improvements: 1. Tool contains many features which are overwhelming to learn resulting in a steep learning curve. 2. Customizing the workflow with this tool requires consulting support from TCS which is expensive. 3. Code modernization sometimes contains bugs in implementing the business logic which is very hard to eliminate beforehand.
