Flexibility Allows Tailored Solutions Though Building From Scratch May Be Challenging
It is a great tool to enable transformation of the shop floor without a sizeable upfront investment. Their IoT capabilities are pretty good for users that don't have visibility of their assets and they are on a journey to make them more robust. I would consider their service as very transparent, they care about the customers and are always looking for ways to improve operations. First, it takes some effort to make sure the right governance structure is applied to reduce risk, but the system provides the right tools in most of its features to enable this. Once everything is setup it is just a matter of change management. - Trainer50M-1B USDManufacturingReview Source

Tulip MES: A Deep Dive into its Strengths and Challenges
Overall: Tulip is a very strong MES for a company that has the technical resources to identify their needs and implement, or has the resources to work with Tulip Solutions Engineering to plan for implementation, but may not be a good fit for companies that expect out-of-the-box solutions or don't have a lot of technical expertise. The team behind Tulip is currently doing a lot of work to improve the Platforms offerings in this area. Specific Details: We implemented Tulip to reduce the paperwork required for 21 CFR Part 820 medical device history records. We found that Tulip included a very helpful amount of documentation on their software development lifecycle, which helped our validation process for the platform immensely. Afterwards, we ran into some trouble with implementation, as out-of-the-box, Tulip comes with the tools to build a software architecture, but does not come prepackaged with a data model (NOTE: They have made dramatic improvements to this by adding a pre-configured data model that can be downloaded by enterprise or Life Sciences customers, although this is not implementation-free, and still needs some fine tuning by the end customer to determine if really fits their intended use) We have since gone through a couple of iterations of our data model, using a small pilot line to guide their development, and after ~10 months have reached a fully paperless eDHR, with a review-by-exception process that lets us scale very comfortably. Tulip has provided some support through this, and does include direct solution development with contracted services, which certainly could have sped up our implementation.
