As Head IT, my primary goal was to replace legacy backup complexity with a unified, hardware agnostic solution that could grow with our investment operations. We chose Veeam data platform for its reputation in the virtualized space and its flexible VUL licensing. From the initial planning phase to full deployment, the experience has been transformative. This has shifted our team from 'managing backups' to ensuring data availability.

With version 13, Veeam appears to be positioning itself for a new phase, offering a broad set of features and aiming to deliver reliable solutions. However several functionality areas that were key factors in the purchasing decision are currently not perform as expected. Veeam continues to hold a strong position in the market, with limited alternatives offering comparable level of capability. At the same time, this places higher expectations on product maturity. In its current state, the software would benefit from further refinement. While ongoing development efforts are evident, releasing the product all major features fully aligned with their advertised capabilityes may have provided a more consistent experience.
