It's a very resilient product, allows great possibilities for automating deployments and lots of flexibility to integrate with other vendors like Cisco.
I like most features of this product but out of them I feel below are the top and distinguishing its market cap when compared with other vendors in market. 1. Compatibility with Non SD-WAN devices. VMware SD-WAN - VeloCloud is the only popular SD-WAN solution which can form tunnel connectivity with non SD-WAN devices irrespective of the routing protocols used at the other end of the tunnel which is why I say this product is best in market. 2. In-built firewall and z-scaler toggle VeloCloud offers inbuilt firewall support which is a dominant feature that can be used to secure the network and this can be an extra security layer that enhances protection for traffic exchange in and out of the network. 3. Robust deployment Plug and Play stands as my most loved feature offered by Velocloud by VMware SD-WAN because it just capable to generate a out of box WiFi and one can connect to it and configure the device and position it on the network.
Software can encounter some bugs and sometimes there were issues with the ZTP feature which didn't work at first.
Technically there's a steep learning curve to understanding how this SDN functions and is deployed.
1. The built-in firewall provided by SD-WAN is not fully loaded with the salient features provided by other firewall vendors. This can be an area of improvement. 2. MIB support for other monitoring tools to monitor VMware SD-WAN is limited and cannot be customizable. Velocloud support has once confirmed that they'll be setting up these options soon. 3. The product budget and its support license is highly priced compared to other vendors. Though this is the best in service.
