Visio Likes & Dislikes
Visio helps us to breakdown complex scenarios into easy-to-understand topics. As most of the higher management and customers are business oriented they mostly don't have the technical background to follow raw data or alert logs. With the help of Visio, we are translating these technical details into more user-friendly visual diagrams that give a clear picture. Out of all the features what i like the most is the default templates which help to quickly finish the work without spending hours to find templates on the internet. Basic features like the smart connector and the ability to link diagrams with Microsoft Excel are making things a lot easier for us.
The way Visio allows you to create and map workflows is really great, with amazing functionalities, and well organized, Visio still for me the top-end solution for building flows. It provides good collaboration and flexibility whenever process mappings happen. It could integrate process mining or insights tools by leveraging AI, while not being a simple tool for flows but also providing suggestions.
I appreciate the assets and templates available, which as previously mentioned, expedite the creation process. It is very easy to collaborate with peers, sharing access to documents or visual concepts and immediately get their feedback. Last, I would say, I like how it integrates with other Microsoft software. As a heavy SharePoint user, it flows into our business processes and doesn't feel like an additional space to navigate to.
Most of the time we work with small diagrams, which we can comfortably work in the online version of Visio but while working with detailed and large diagrams the online Visio feels a bit slower and not as responsive as the desktop application. I would also suggest improving the online collaboration feature so that multiple team members can work smoothly in the same project without any slow synching issues.
The on-premise version still quite superior than the cloud one. On premise should be included on the standard MS package together with MS Excel, PowerPoint etc.. It could be also better integrated with PowerPoint for better visibility, while many flows are built in Visio, usually they are presented in PowerPoint version, flow could be optmized for better visualization.
I wish their was more freedom to create exactly whatever you wanted. It can be difficult to freeform and modify shapes like some other CAD software. I would also say, there is a bit of a delay in response time with collaboration. I don't know if that is a result of the platform itself, but I'm not always immediately notified of a new comment or update. Finally, I think it has its benefits, but I limit it to process mapping and visualizing the flow of ideas rather than a design specific tool.

Practical tool for turning complex ideas into clear visual!
In our line of work, illustration is one of the key that we have to use very often, either to present something to customer or to provide monthly report to department head. As a SOC engineer, we mostly work with alerts but at the end of the month we have to submit an analytical report to the team manager which finally goes to the customer. That's where Visio comes into play. Visio helps us to create visual and easy to understand network topologies, alert workflows and incident response process into clear, customer friendly diagrams which even non-technical people can understand easily. - BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE ANALYSTGov't/PS/EdEducationReview Source
Integration With Microsoft Software Smooth, But Shape Modification Options Are Limited
I'm pleased with the Visio experience, which includes a number of templates or assets to create process flows and maps for various projects. The assets are robust in that if I can't necessary find a template that meets my needs, I can create what is necessary for a visualization manually. - DRILLING SOLUTIONS ENGINEER50M-1B USDEnergy and UtilitiesReview Source
Microsoft Visio Integrates Well But Lacks Mac Compatibility for Some Users
I had to build some flowcharts for different processes and departments and I used Visio from Microsoft. I couldn't believe the power of the program and the multitude of shapes and types of flowcharts available. Ease of use and flawless integration with other Microsoft platforms. I recommend this software for anyone who needs flowcharts, organizational charts, or floor plans. - MANAGER, PROJECT MANAGEMENT1B-10B USDSoftwareReview Source
Comprehensive Diagram Tools In Visio Have Usability And Licensing Considerations
Microsoft Visio is a solid tool when I use it to create professional diagrams, flowcharts and process maps. I find it to integrate smoothly with other Microsoft 365 applications, which makes collaboration and sharing easier across MS teams with my peers. - GLOBAL ACCOUNTING & TREASURY SERVICES LE10B+ USDConsumer GoodsReview Source
Workflow Mapping In Visio Highly Rated Despite Limited Online Access Issues
As part of my current role, I need to create flows for processing mapping, processing idealization, etc.. and using Visio is really crucial. I tried to adapt to other tools but Visio remains the key one for me. Current, I have only access to Online version in my company, as the on-premise is paid. This is the only unfavorable point in my view, as an user I cannot understand why on-premise is not included together with the other MS365 tools. While online version still great is not the same as on-premise.
