Speed of the visuals, building of the reports
Where CloudHealth succeeds is in its simplicity for users. The level of curation that it offers is super good compared to just building this yourself. CloudHealth has been at this a while and knows what to look at. Also, it's got great granularity. You don't need Finance to constantly bother you when you can just point them at CH and let them go! Lastly, CH has non-reporting functionality built into it like recommendations for RIs or underutilized resources. There's still a lot of work to actually do stuff with those recommendations but they are improving it slowly.
1) multi-cloud capability 2) easy to read/consume esp compared to native tools 3) recommendations seem solid
The policy engine is difficult to understand and use
I have several issues with CH but if I were to summarize: 1. It's decreasingly differentiated. Most cloud providers will help with this and even if they won't, there are cheaper alternatives that are just as capable. As a result, CH is just not worth it anymore. 2. They have the worst support. Not near the worst, the actual worst. I've had bad experiences at both the technical support and customer success level. For example, when I complained about how their pricing disincentivizes me from using it (it doesn't get cheaper as I use more), they were utterly confused. I tried explaining cloud pricing to the CS team and they could not grasp it. Else, we had long running support issues for months with many turns to re-explain issues. I only got them fixed when escalating. 3. It's expensive. CH will negotiate but it seems clear to me this is now a cash cow. VMWare bought CH with intention to make it sustainable but got outflanked by the cloud providers so they've (logically) pivoted to just ringing out profit until it winds down. Minimal innovation and high pricing. When we left recently, they went so far as to cut out bill in half to try and keep us (giving you an idea of the margin) but at that point, we'd already moved.
1) Need to learn how to produce reports - learning curve 2) cost is based on your % of spend, unusual cost model considering its supposed to save you money! 3) CPU metrics are out of the box, for memory metrics you need an agent

CloudHealth: The once great that has become the ok
I've used CloudHealth for many years in multiple roles and companies. I've experienced their support and run it at massive scale (once as their biggest customer). Overall, I think it is overpriced for what it does and probably has the worst support of any product I've used. I'd move on from this product, personally. - GROUP PRODUCT MANAGER1B-10B USDTravel and HospitalityReview Source
