It's very easy to set up and integrate within a well established environment. From an admin side, it's very easy to control and use, and even easier for end users to use. It's clear, and has a fresh but customisable look.
Yammer is most effective in creating a friendly and relaxed feel to the entire company communication. It's like a break room where ideas can be floated in a post/work kind of way, toss out a quick question and check the general mood of the company.
The ease of use of the tool and familiarity compared to non-work social media tools is a massive win. Being able to quickly create community groups is super helpful, and the ease of adding photos, PDFs, and having reactions and comments in a familiar style all help to gain user acceptance.
It's very good, and very easy to use. I have no real dislikes with it as it works as you'd expect it to work.
Work may become lost in the threads and it is difficult to follow what is being carried out or decisions that are being made. This absence of project management features poses a problem when it comes to putting into effect important points that must be implemented.
The frustration we face the most is being able to receive all critical updates through Yammer, and not have them lost in a sea of other helpful, but less important updates. Ideally, the tool would feature more broadcast style announcements that are mandatory for all colleagues or specific teams of people.
