Overall Comment:"I use Jira almost daily as a contributor for my team. The tool is good at allowing me to track my tasks, when they are due, and where they sit in the sprint, which saves me time trying to find all of the items in my queue. It provides a central space where all tasks across all teams are kept, which makes it easy for everyone to see where the project is at. Overall, my experience with Jira has been positive and we've used it for many years now. "
One of the best features of Jira is the collaboration that is possible within each ticket, where team members can tag each other and ask questions to progress the ticket. Also, having the ability to hand-off the ticket once your task is complete to the next team was extremely beneficial. Another feature that was useful was the Kanban board which gave an overview of all the tickets for a specific project -- this offered ease of communication during stand-ups and allowed the teams to be aligned and on the same page.
I'd say that with Jira being so flexible it also made it quite complex. Within the tickets, when they were assigned to me, were straightforward to understand. However, whenever I had to create my own tickets, the complexity was immense -- there were fields that were only understood by a handful of individuals and it was not intuitive to fill them out. The breadth of options in the filters also created a maze of tickets that were difficult to navigate. At times, I wouldn't be able to find tickets that I knew existed; and at other times there would be tickets that I didn't want.
