Gartner defines customer data platforms (CDPs) as software applications that support marketing and customer experience use cases by unifying a company’s customer data from marketing and other channels. CDPs optimize the timing and targeting of messages, offers and customer engagement activities, and enable the analysis of individual-level customer behavior over time. The purpose of a CDP is to centralize data collection and unify customer data from disparate sources into profiles. CDPs enable marketers to create and manage segments and push those segments to priority channels without requiring coding or use of advanced querying techniques. While CDPs originated to serve marketing use cases, interest from data management roles, IT and other customer-facing roles (e.g. sales, service and support) is on the rise. Digital marketing leaders have long used a variety of systems to design, orchestrate and measure multichannel campaigns. While many of those systems also manage customer-level data and audiences for targeting, they do so in a way that makes both data governance and orchestration across channels (and across competitive vendor solutions) a challenge. CDPs aim to address that challenge by collecting and unifying disparate customer data in a centralized location accessible to marketers. The CDP is not a substitute for an enterprise’s master data management, but it can ensure that customer profile data, transactional events and analytic attributes are available to marketing when needed for real-time interactions.

As an email marketer, learning how to use Blueshift was a quick and fairly easy process. I've really enjoyed building campaigns and segments within the platform. It's super robust and allows for a ton of customization as well as ways to speed up the build of large/ complicated journeys. Support has been great as well. I can't think of any issues specific to Blueshift that we've had - they've been great.

I am giving Adobe RT CDP and the underlying data platform, Adobe Experience Platform, 5 stars not because it is perfect but because I have not seen any digital messaging management system that is more powerful or comprehensive. We had a tight deadline for migration to a new CMDB. There were initial concerns that our requirements weren't fully understood for our bespoke needs, but through the course of the implementation project; most of these issues were resolved. Amperity offers such potential to customise, though vision and a good understanding of SQL is required to make use of this. The ability to set up couriers to ingest data, destinations to export to multiple platforms, and grouping to manage multiple of the above is great The option to resolve complex queries to VSE (visual segment editor) means that messy data from multiple sources can be categorised/cleaned behind the scenes and presented to users in a simpler format is fantastic The power of stitch to reconcile duplicate customers is powerful. The rules behind this can be altered to specs; it reduced our customer base by half, accurately! The system is speedy and much of the legwork for BI can be done within the system prior to exporting to BI platforms The system is always up. Even DB refreshes on the live system do not impact other users The sandbox setup is excellent; changes can be tested and promoted easily. Multiple sandboxes can be set up to test specific changes
