What is OroCommerce?

OroCommerce is an AI-enabled B2B eCommerce platform designed for manufacturers, wholesalers, and distributors with complex sales processes. The platform combines CRM, invoicing, AI productivity tools, marketplace capabilities, and B2B storefronts in a unified system. It supports advanced quoting workflows including RFQ (Request for Quote) and CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote). OroCommerce provides multi-website, multi-locale, and B2B2X functionality under a single license. This product had a good mix of out-of-box functionality with the ability to customize deeply. We were worried less about cutting-edge ecommerce functionality and more about a highly-tailored order-taking system that duplicated our complicated internal order processes and synced with our ERP.

    The site runs smoothly with minimal downtime, page load times are consistently fast, the platform is intuitive and user friendly, real time inventory visibility has helped prevent backorders and improved our communication with customers, customer support has been responsive and helpful whenever we've had questions.

    Oro Provides Scalable & Customizable B2B Solutions

    Oro has given us the flexible and scalable platform that we needed in order to create a customized B2B experience for our customers to have a portal and purchasing capabilities. There's nothing we've wanted to do or plan to do in the future that we cannot accomplish with this platform. The 'out of the box' capabilities for B2B outshine the competition in my opinion. They have allowed me to provide my own input by being on the customer advisory board. If I were to make a recommendation for improvement - I would say that my current customer success manager has not been helpful or customer-centric, and usually seems a bit annoyed when I reach out. But I love many on the Oro team & have built good relationships with senior leadership and have enjoyed this partnership in many ways.

Ability to customize, depth of out-of-the-box functionality and plugins. Post implementation support has also been very good (responsive, quick, knowledgeable). Integration API is also very robust and fully supported our custom ERP sync processes. The integrator (suggested by Oro) we work with has been the best part of our experience with Oro. They are well supported by Oro.

The out of the box functionality, how intuitive and user friendly the platform is, real-time inventory updates, the platform allows for customized customer pricing, as well as customized store fronts and promotions tailored specifically for target audience groups, seamlessly integrates with our internal workflows.

Lack of user-based support forums and poor community. The company used to have a very active user community forum that was a great resource, but around the time we purchased the product it was shut down for dubious reasons and replaced with a Slack channel of little value. This somewhat locks us into formal paid support and slows down our learning. There have been scores of times when I just wanted to ask other users' questions. This was nearly a deal-breaker when we purchased the product. Difficulty in upgrading a highly-customized installation. We've still not done our first upgrade because after a trial attempt it looks like will be very complicated. We have been collecting a list of missing features and issues that need to be solved after the upgrade and are somewhat fearing the project.
