its actually quite a capable tool for mapping out workflows, the visual process mapping is easy to use and enables the BA's in my team to build out models with out additional training. Its competing in a very crowded space though with lots of similar tools now offering the same capability.

ABACUS is really flexible and amazing tool which can be fully customize meta models and reporting dashboards to maintain our organizational needs without much interference with vendor. Very good for data integration and seemless to integrate with Excel, Sharepoint and maintain realtime data.

The reporting is solid, enables us to pull together documentation that makes sense to senior leaders when putting forward pre-business case explorations or full business cases requiring sign off.

What I like the most is having a single source of truth for architecture information . I can see how systems relate to each other, how initiatives map to products and how changes impact the wider landscape. I also like the different views and dashboards that help turn complex architecture data into something more understandable for non-architect stakeholders

There are possibility to improve on localization and manual diagramming as those were 2 real challenges we faced. Our team required good amount of time to learn so that is also one of aspect to keep in mind while considering this.. There were some challenges on the road while doing data integration but again with proper knowledge it got resolved but took time overall.

its competing in a crowded market, lots of tools can now do similar tasks, and handle complex intergration and real time data analysis slightly easier/simpler. the interface can feel a little dated compared to similar products / tools

The learning curve is quite steep, especially for new users. It is not always obvious how to navigate the models or interpret what you see without guidelines. It also depends heavily on people keeping data up to date. Without that trust in the tool can drop quickly.

For architecture-related work, it provides clarity that would be very hard to achieve through documents and spreadsheets. That said, Abacus is not a casual tool. It works well when the data is actively maintained and when people understand what the tool is meant to represent. When that discipline is there, it is extremely valuable. When it is not, the information can quickly become outdated.
