Arena PLM Likes & Dislikes
The Quality Module has helped many companies consolidate their Quality process data more efficiently which allows for sharing and direct participation from all suppliers with access. The ECR and different phases for submitting and creating changes helps eliminate eternal email requests and improves communication between departments. The training module also simplifies and keeps the training data in one place which simplifies internal and external audits of these type of records directly linked to manufacturing.
I like the ease of importing BOMs and adding items manually.

There are some major issues with costing and tracking BOM costs in the system which makes it extremely manual and basically unusable.
I think the interface is pretty clunky and dated which is probably what I dislike most about the product, though this is probably comparable to most of Arena's competitors. I don't like having the spaces for things like Items, Docs, etc... separated. Also, the product seems very focused on storing mechanical CAD and lacks some nuanced features that would make it more usable for electronics and documentation.
I have a few issues with Arena. Might be that I am not aware of solutions to this or our version is not customized for these things but I want to put it out here. 1. The search engine is great for single searches but I would like to put a list directly from excel or have some query format shown to me in search suggestions to search for multiple parts at the same time and get that list instead of creating multiple AND/OR blocks. It would save hours on some of our projects. 2. Arena needs to have better automation integration with Microsoft products. I would like to update my trackers with new requests and BOM changes without having to do it manually. I should be able to at least receive an email for any new request without being part of an evaluator group or mentioned specifically. 3. I believe the latest update has done something about it but I wish I could mention a product name and search would show all parts that have it mentioned somewhere inside the PDF or Word or Excel document as well. A lot of our files do not have great descriptions to find related files. This would be a great help

Cloud Access and OnShape Integration Beneficial for Small to Medium Businesses
The sales/purchasing process was mostly smooth. There are two reasons I didn't give 5 stars. First is because there were ACH payment issues with PTC/Arena. Second, the sales team from the competing product, Windchill, felt truly exceptional.
