Product Information on Bamboo

Updated 13th October 2025

What is Bamboo?

Bamboo is a software that automates the process of building, testing, and releasing applications. It integrates with version control systems and provides continuous integration and deployment capabilities. The software supports a wide range of build tools and programming languages, enabling teams to automate the compilation and testing of source code. Bamboo offers centralized management of builds and releases, configurable workflows, and environment provisioning. It addresses business challenges associated with manual build and release processes by streamlining pipelines, reducing errors, and improving visibility into the development lifecycle. Bamboo facilitates collaboration across development, testing, and operations teams, enhancing consistency and reliability in delivering software updates.

Bamboo Pricing

Bamboo software uses a tiered pricing model based on the number of build agents and users. The software is offered through perpetual licenses with a one-time payment for each tier, along with an annual maintenance fee that includes support and updates. Cloud deployment is not available and pricing varies depending on the selected configuration and required scale.

My experience with Bamboo has been excellent. I used Bamboo to build and deploy Java projects. We can see and trace logs of a build that failed because of any issue. We can also see new commits/ Jira tickets related to a particular build.

Bamboo Likes & Dislikes

Like

Configuring a new build plan is very easy. We can clone the existing build plan and can make the changes as per our needs. We can connect JIRA to Bamboo build, which gives us information on which tickets/issues are going in this build.

Dislike

It does not support parameterized builds. Inheriting legacy projects in Bamboo is an issue because it does not support centralized build configurations. Bamboo only supports the Atlassian coverage tool. It is very inflexible and does not have a lot of features.
