#1. Cohesity is very easy to deploy and use. We have 70 remote sites and 4 primary locations. We have several 'legacy' & 'modern' cloud-based workloads. What started off as a 'remote solution' for smaller locations has spread and is now the preferred backup toolset. #2. Security Focused. Out of the box, there are several key security enhancements that just simply work as promised. MFA, Immutability, Encryption, Ransomware Detection, etc. It all works together seamlessly and with little effort or fuss. Additional services (i.e. Fort Knox, DataHawk, integration with several security vendors and tools, etc.) are a significant upgrade as compared to our the incumbent solution. #3. Helios. Helios is a single pane-of-glass management tool that brings together all of our dashboards and provides a centralized view of all of our global deployments. It's a highly functional reporting, monitoring, alerting, and global search engine that simply works and is intuitive. The incumbent solution requires multiple tools and systems to be deployed and managed independently of one another - making the solution more cumbersome to support and maintain. #4. Overall cost of ownership. The way the product is licensed and the overall dedupe and compression capabilities, we are able to see significant overall cost savings over competing product sets.
Each backup/restore related error is displayed with a status code. Using the status code, the admin can identify the root cause and recommended actions to fix it. Integration with Tape Library. The operations on the tape library can be handled by NetBackup without the need to access the management interface of the tape. Hotfix and Server/Client version upgrades are easy using the deployment policies. Veritas provides.sja files to perform bulk upgrades.
The NetBackup product remains the class leader in the traditional enterprise market, backing up everything from the oldest flavors of Unix and Oracle databases to the most modern container and Kubernetes platforms.
#1. Would love for a faster integration post Veritas agents post merger. There are a couple of workloads that are better suited for others vs. Cohesity - We would like to have a unified global solution vs. having two. #2. We have had a lot of changes with our sales team. They are competent, but I believe due to the company's fast growth and the merger, we have had a lot a changes in the sales staff. #3. There were a few minor hiccups with the latest hardware C5200 platform. The deployment of new clusters has not been as smooth as with the previous generation. We have had to redeploy (reimage) most of the nodes initially deployed due to a lack of overall awareness from the deployment team.
Client Installation Procedure is a little bit difficult. Java Admin Console UI should be better in the latest releases even though there is a web console to do the same operations.
It has taken NetBackup a while to integrate security features such as immutability and ransomware protection. These are foundational to other products.
