FAVORABLE

“Consistent data protection once established, but requires careful planning at the start”

4.0
Feb 4, 2026
From the implementations and support work I've been involved in, my experience with Dell Data Protection Suite has been largely dependable. Once deployed and tuned, it behaves predictably in day-to-day operations and does what it is expected to do without frequent intervention.

CRITICAL

“Quick to set up and user-friendly.”

Jul 12, 2023
Overall the product is easy to use. Platform integration and UX navigation is use friendly but they are also a lot of cons, one of them being it can get extremely slow the more data it consumes.

Dell Data Protection Suite Likes & Dislikes

Like

1. In environments where customers already rely on Dell hardware, I've seen the product settle in without needing constant adjustments once the initial policies are in place. 2. Day-to-day operations are generally predictable, scheduled jobs tend to run as expected, which reduces follow-up work for support teams after go-live. 3. Having a single management view for backups and related policies makes ongoing administration easier once administrators become familiar with the workflow.

Like

1. Marketing and analytics platform Integrations are every easy and it integrates with all mostly used platforms. 2. Ease of use - setting up dashboards is straightforward 3. Customer support is excellent.

Like

Strong integration with Dell ecosystem (PowerProtect, DataDomain and VMware) Reliable backup and recovery performance, even with large datasets Robust security, including recovery validation features

Dislike

1. The setup phase often takes longer then customers anticipate, especially when there is limited prior experience with similar backup platforms. 2. Some configuration paths are not very intuitive, which can lead to trial-and-error during early deployment or when making changes later. 3. The interface feels dated in certain areas, and this can slow adoption for teams that are used to more modern management tools.

Dislike

1. Data modeling is limited. Uses statistical modelling that can only look back 6 months. 2. Lagging - platform becomes slow with more data added or sometimes crashes.

Dislike

Administrative complexity with initial setup and advanced configurations not always intuitive Licensing and packaging can be confusing when combining multiple Dell components like ours User interface could be simplified more accros the different suite modules
