Dell VxRail Likes & Dislikes
Easy to maintain with one button firmware updates. Hardware is resilient across the Vxrail cluster, minimizing any downtime.
VxRail offers robust integration with VMware, as it's a fully validated appliance combining vSphere and vSAN, simplifying management and seamless across the scaling VMware ecosystem. Additionally, its centralized management and integration updates via VXRail Manager enable unified administration and single-package lifecycle upgrades.
VxRail's robust integration with VMware has enabled efficient virtualization the built-in automation and security features have enhanced operational resilience it has been a stable and high-performing foundation for our critical workloads
Vxrail is expensive and can be difficult to scale since you need to buy additional nodes when you run low on capacity.
VxRail one-click updates are very problematic and require constant support from Dell. This has resulted in long wait times, especially since the post-Broadcom transition has made renewals confusing, expensive, and slow. Additionally, Broadcom's acquisition has eliminated VMware perpetual licenses, forcing costly VCF/VSF subscriptions that have doubled or tripled costs.
expensive pricing and licensing fees, which significantly increased our TCO compared to competitors dynamic scaling options are somewhat limited, making it harder to adapt to changing workloads VxRail is going away, and being replaced by Private Cloud

Vxrail Delivers Reliable Performance With Smooth Upgrades and Minimal Downtime
We replaced our prev solution with Dell Unity infrastructure with Dell Vxrail in early 2024. The implementation by Dell, was very straightforward and everything was up and running within a couple of weeks of getting delivered. Before we moved any production servers to the the Vxrail, we wanted to go through a firmware upgrade to make sure the "one button" upgrade worked as expected and there was no downtime. The "one button" upgrade worked perfectly, with no impact to the test systems that we had migrated to the environment. We have since gone through several upgrades with production servers running on the Vxrail without any operational impact. We had a Vxrail node have a hardware failure and the Vxrail migrated the workloads off the node and shut it down without any operational impact. Once the node was repaired, Vxrail balanced the workloads across all of the nodes without any operational impact. Overall, the Vxrail clusters have been incredibly reliable and resilient, resulting in no downtime due to the Vxrail. - IT Associate<50M USDHealthcare and BiotechReview Source

VxRail Offers Consistent Performance and Reliability.
VXRail is an insanely good product. We've had our Vxrail for about 5 years and it has never seen any downtime, it performs like it should. It's easy to manage as it run Vmware. Dell also has other products that connect seamlessly like recoverpoint for VM to replicate you VM's to another Dell instance. - MANAGER OF IT SERVICES10B+ USDManufacturingReview Source

Strong VMware Integration, but Update Reliability and Licensing Costs are Growing Concerns
My experience with Dell VxRail has been mixed. On the one hand, it offers flawless integration with VMware and centralized management that truly simplifies infrastructure provisioning and scaling, on the other hand, updates sometimes fail, requiring itensive tecnical support, and VMware acquisition by Broadcom has significantly increased licensing cost.
