Figma Design Likes & Dislikes
My top 3 highlights for Figma design are: 1. Prototyping- It offers a good variety of fun animations and transitions for prototyping, which gives a good essence to the client of how their end product will look like, how the website/app will be moving and the overall flow of the tool 2. Collaboration features - UI/UX is a domain where you simply can't work alone, you work as a team. This collaboration feature is a blessing as the whole team can be on the same page, see the updates in real-time and can even make changes or add their inputs as well. 3. AI Integration - This feature is new, but it's growing on me. Figma is leveraging the use of AI in their tool, which helps with brainstorming sessions and much more research related work. However, since AI is a new feature, maybe we need more in-depth understanding of this.
Some things stand out on Figma (besides organising our designs onto different items) - like commenting on designs where feedback is needed, sharing files with teammates (on a permission level), manipulating designs to become vectors (that can be repurposed and reused across the board).
Ease of use: Figma is incredibly intuitive, making it accessible even for non-technical team members. It allows everyone from product managers to marketing members to jump into canvas and collaborate without a steep learning curve. Figma Make: The Make feature allows us to turn text prompts and rough ideas into functional, interactive designs instantly. MCP Integration: The ability to use MCP with Figma has revolutionized our design-to-code handoff. It provides a universal translator that lets our AI coding assistants read the exact design context directly from Figma, ensuring our implementation at our company is pixel-perfect and highly efficient.
Firstly, not a huge fan of the free version - as the provided features are very limited like only 2 people can collaborate and only 1 project is allowed and to get a better hold of the tool one is kind of forced to get the paid version so a few more features can help the user to understand the tool and decide their vendor accordingly. Secondly, Figma design needs good stable internet connection- so a good feature is also a problem that though you can access it anywhere but with an internet connection which unfortunately you don't find everywhere. And lastly it goes crazy once your file becomes heavy it doesn't do well with large data and it starts lagging
Few things - for projects which involve many major milestones like website revamp/redesign, it can get a bit messy with layers and components piling up. Aside from lagging components for animations - Figma doesn't have inbuilt animation tools that'll help us demonstrate product prototypes. Instead, we currently brief our requirements to our Creative team (it's not a very dramatic issue since we do have basic animation functionality, especially for apps). Also, we're a bit limited with user testing, which is very important because we always want to measure what users interact with - we always want to validate what designs work most. Having an integrated user testing tool would be super beneficial...
Performance with heavy files: For a massive project like the our company's mobile app, the canvas can sometimes become stuttery, requiring us to split designs into multiple files to maintain speed. AI Credit Consumption: While the new Figma Make and AI features are revolutionary for our workflow at Istanbul Airport, the AI credits consume far too quickly. Navigation & File Management: Despite the UI/UX of the design canvas being exceptionally intuitive, the home screen and file organization can be cluttered. Finding specific projects or older versions among hundreds of files for the mobile app and our platform is sometimes a struggle, as the dashboard lacks a more robust and customizable folder hierarchy.

Figma Offers Strong Prototyping And Collaboration But Has Free Version Limits
Being a designer and UI specialist, I have been using Figma for ages now, and this software really didn't disappoint me at all. Starting with how user-friendly it is - easy to navigate, finding your tools and incorporating plug-ins. One good YouTube video or online course and you're already a pro at using the tool. Secondly, the best part is its usability. You don't necessarily need to download the app, you can easily use it online and the ease of using it on any device- be it phone, tablet or laptop. Plus the ability to access your data anywhere in the world with merely your ID and password. It has good collaborative features, and don't get me started on the extensive plugins it has to offer-plus you can even add more. Prototyping, creating button animations or making a fun interactive interface, it can do it all. You can start with a lo-fi wireframe to your hi-fi wireframes to a fully fledged working interface, it really does it all. However, despite being a great tool, it does have some limitations as well. One major thing is that a free account allows only one free project, which can contain only 3 files, plus only two people can collaborate with limited features. This doesn't allow the user to take full advantage of the software and get to know it better- and hence is forced to buy as one doesn't get complete essence of the tool. Besides this, it doesn't work well with large or heavy files- it goes crazy and starts lagging a lot so if you're working on a heavy data project be ready to feel annoyed a bit. But all in all it does a pretty good job and one can give it a try. - Digital Specialist50M-1B USDTravel and HospitalityReview Source
Collaboration and Feedback Features Strong in Figma but Lacks Integrated User Testing
Figma is one of the few tools that I'm really satisfied with, because it fully delivers on its promise. Just a few "touch ups" would be beneficial (which I will mention), but overall, for visual representation of user guides, style guides, prototypes and concepts - it's one of the best out there. - MARKETING ASSOCIATE50M-1B USDTransportationReview Source
AI Features Accelerate Design at our company Yet Credit Limits Hinder Work
Figma has become the critical infrastructure for akk UI/UX processes at our organization. We rely on it exclusively to manage the complex design lifecycles of both our mobile application and our e-commerce platform. In the high stakes environment of aviation and premium travel services, Figma allows us to bridge gap between our design team and stakeholders. - Ux Research Manager50M-1B USDServices (non-Government)Review Source
Direct Commenting Enhances Teamwork Yet Large Files Impact Speed and Usability
Figma has been vital because of one product advantage - it allows collaboration, comments, and file markups on prototypes with ease. It's like the GoogleDocs of prototyping tools. No more back and forth over email or external files while referencing the design in another tab. You can drop a comment directly on the element in question on Figma to start a discussion around it. - Specialist Creative Designer50M-1B USDMediaReview Source
Modern collaborative design tool that streamline teamwork and speed ups workflow.
My overall experience with Figma has been very positive. It is intuitive, fast and makes collaboration extremely easy, especially when working with teams and in real time. I like how everything runs in the browser, there's no heavy installation, and sharing designs with the teammates or clients is simple through a link. The interface feels modern and organised and features like auto layout, components, and prototyping save a lot of time.
