Centralized Management Simplifies Fortinet Device Integration With Responsive Performance

    5.0
    Jan 12, 2026
Fortimanager is an amazing solution for the Fortinet fabric solutions, in our customer we implemented Fortigate NGFW, FortiAnalyzer, FortiWEB and FortiPAM. Managing all of them individually would require extra effort and resources, however with FortiManager this task is done with few dedicated resources, centralized policies and network objects, monitoring devices in a single webUI. The installation was very easy, just setting the security fabric in all devices did the magic for us. The performance of the webUI is very responsive, no lag, zero delays showing logs or policies.

FortiManager Likes & Dislikes

Like

1)Centralized management: Teams can deploy, configure and update and manage all that Forti devices in a central console and from a single dashboard 2)Provisioning and Automation: Teams are able to create templates and can push configurations to for example new branches and locations by using the already done templates 3)Role based Access(RBAC): You can assign different levels of access such as Access to view logs, Access to change firewall rules based on their individual role to Administrators and other technical support and maintainance staff as necessary.

Like

Biggest advantage is the centralized management of multiple Forti Devices from a single console which helps save a considerable amount of time. Platform help enforce standardized policies across different sites, reducing configuration inconsistencies. Platform scales well as the number of firewalls increases.

Like

What I like most is the centralized management capability. Being able to manage, deploy and audit policies across multiple FortiGate devices from a single console saves significant time, reduces configuration errors and ensures consistency across the network. The revision history and change control features are also extremely valuable for operational stability and troubleshooting.

Dislike

1)Real time status: At times the fortimanager tends to not sync or show the realtime status of switches and access points correctly. For examples when a switch or an AP goes offline and comes back online it takes a few minutes to update the realtime status in console. 2)Install Wizard Progress: At times when when deploying devices the installtion process takes time to compile and push down commands to the devices. What takes 5 minutes in a stand alone Firewall to configure may take several minutes to configure through the Fortimanager. 3)The common out of sync issue: Teams need to maintain deicipline when making configurations on stand alone device changes where these might end up with sych issues in Fortimanager, and might show up a sync error and the next time you push a command from Fortimanager this might overide the stand alone configuration made.

Dislike

I feel the user interface could be simplified more, especially for the administrators who are new to the platform. Day to day administrative tasks require multiple clicks and navigation through different menus. Troubleshooting sometimes takes longer than required.

Dislike

The main drawback is the complexity of the interface and workflows, especially for new users. Some operations require multiple steps and the learning curve can be steep without prior Fortinet experience. In addition, performance can degrade in large environments during policy installs or database operations, which can impact day-to-day efficiency.
