Glassdoor has been overall positive and helpful, especially when researching companies and job applications. Glassdoor provides job seekers the opportunity to see employee reviews, salary ranges and interview experiences which provide a more clear view of the company's culture and expectations. However, some reviews from the employees can be outdated, biased and inconsistent which can make it difficult to fully trust the information provided.

“Glassdoor Enables Employee Perspectives but Faces Challenges With Review Authenticity”

I think Glassdoor is a well known platform in the market for job posting, but more than that, for companies ratings and opinions. At least in Europe, candidates use it to know more about the company from employees' perspective: looking for humble and transparent perspectives.

Senior Information Security Manager
Strictly speaking, if you want a Magic Quadrant, then you’d have to go to Gartner since it is a trademarked term and only Gartner can issue Magic Quadrants. With that, I think Glassdoor is likely your best source.

Great and Easy way to Be transparent

There have been some significant challenges with other organizations which has similar names, and making sure that the correct reviews were under our organization rather than under the other ones (even if they were bad). Overall, the ability to personalize our page is great and to respond to reviewers as well.

Glassdoor Likes & Dislikes

Like

What I liked the most about using Glassdoor is that it shares interview questions and tips. This helps candidates to be more prepared and confident during the interview. Also, Glassdoor shows current and former employee reviews which helps job seekers know the culture and work environment of a certain company. We, as job seekers, also have a view on the salary ranges a company offers which set realistic expectations and support better negotiations.

Like

What I like the most is that anyone can add there personal opinions and information, providing another view about the company that might not be visible or available otherwise.

Like

We have control over the backend of how we utilize it while also being transparent to individuals who want to learn more about the organization.

Dislike

This might not be proven but the reviews can be potentially biased and outdated. Some reviews may be too positive or negative and it may also no longer represent the current work environment of the company. Aside from that, some salary data or reviews often require users to submit their review first which can feel restrictive. There is also some difference in the accuracy of the data shown, especially on the salary ranges and mixed feedback which makes it harder to determine which information is the most reliable.

Dislike

Sometimes people can write really negative reviews about a company that might not be right or realistic. Or even true. There's no process to avoid that. Also, there's no review of how these opinions are written, so it may lead to rude statements (taking into account those opinions can be anonymised). If you have different locations, it might be tricky to see your accounts. E.g. .es vs .com glassdoor sites don't merge. So there are opinions that might only appear on one. This is super confusing for the admin, but also for the users.

Dislike

There are some reviews which are linked under an incorrect organization. Our group has gone through multiple name changes, and there are some errors with some data. Because we only have the account under one of the names, it is taking much longer to get some items revised. I wish there were also more opportunities to share data we already invest in other systems, whether it is a widget or something else to easily show the information.
