Grammarly

Real-time, in-line, context-aware suggestions and (maybe it's our own deployment) the seamless integration with Google workspace. It catches grammar, spelling, punctuation, conciseness, etc with a very efficient way of incorporating the changes. Grammarly helps to elevate the baseline quality on my team's writing without a ton of friction or extra work (we don't all have licenses that are paid, but i suspect we benefit from some of the fremium deployment)

I like that it catches basic grammar mistakes that can easily slip by the average eye.

The weekly writing report is a feature I particularly enjoy. It provides a comprehensive update on my vocabulary usage and accuracy, along with insightful data that highlights areas of improvement. For example, I have had suggestions on where to use periods and commas, which helped me be more conscious of these while drafting my responses. As a non-native English speaker, these reports are invaluable in helping me enhance my language skills. They also share related blog posts offering extra learning resources, making Grammarly an excellent tool for continuous development. I also like the colour-coded highlights for my writing, which let me know which changes are best for it. Once I complete my writing, I also get to check the tone right next to the text box without having to navigate or draft the response elsewhere.

The one constructive input I personally have as I leverage Grammarly across different platforms is the popup format in mobile which can get a little awkward and intrusive as the correction icons are not so easy to dismiss to see the original text (acknowledge that this could be an android UI artifact or my own settings) Another feedback I have is the counterpoint of this just works easy of integration to the seemingly limited persona/tone/context customization. In my mind, Grammary would be even more effectively if it would intuit the appropriate level and nature of changes based on the document context (internal vs external email, marketing blog draft, internal PRD spec, etc). If i'm missing some level of configuration, it would be great to surface this. Effectively, the ask is for an ad-hoc switch to guide the tone and writing style based on what you are doing. d Another nice to have would be a quicker way to just quickly review all suggestions in context (which 90% I trust and implement click-by-click) and do a bulk accept of changes (with modifications as appropriate). This would streamline workflows and time to outcome even more than Grammarly already delivers.

The addition of AI capabilities has been disappointing. I preferred the simple spell/grammar check capabilities. For example, it repeatedly wants my writing to sound more personable, when oftentimes that's not appropriate for the type of writing I need. I don't want to turn it off entirely, because it may be helpful to catch things such as emails. But in official correspondence it becomes cumbersome to ignore all of the warnings about style when they aren't applicable. I've found that there are increasing pop ups that especially interfere in word documents. For example, the popup in this very box was covering up words where I needed to edit. Regarding the AI capabilities, it does not interact well with outlook emails. It struggles when analyzing email replies.

One minor inconvenience I have noticed is the handling of specific syntax fields, such as SQL search (JQL for Jira). In the text boxes specific to handling these queries, the queries are flagged as errors. For example, when we use SQL: select * from <tablename> where <field> in values, Grammarly suggests changes. While I understand the complexity involved, it would be beneficial to have something similar to coding mode or to disable it for one text field or specific search fields.
