UPDATE: In the end, we found that the model of Seagate drive that we were using has a 6% failure rate. We bought a different model of drive and the drive issue went away> Seagate actually swapped the drives for free. All 12 of them. We are on our second QNAP. The first had to be replaced for several reasons including continuously marking drives as being bad (more than 6) and then a firmware corruption that hosed the entire thing. The new QNAP is 2 months old and has had 2 drives marked as failing. UGH!!!! We have had our vendor look at this and had QNAP look at it as well.
