In addition to a large, stable array, the tools provided by a Synology drive are user-friendly and effective. I also like the Google backup retrieval portal, making it easy to download files.

Simple management, stable OS, multifunctionality.

The ease of use of the GUI interface (DSM), and all the software packages that are available and supported for things like Snapshots, VPN, and Sharing your data.

My only real concern is that when a disk goes bad that I have to figure out how to replace it with the same type of disk. If the original disks work for 5 years, when one does go bad, sometimes it's a bit of a challenge to procure a new disk of the same type. I don't think you can mix & match types of disks.

I can't find any negatives.

Sometimes our sales rep would not get back to us for weeks on end. We ended up having to setup an account on the website to create support tickets for general support and got answers back more quickly that way than through our sales rep most of the time. This was a little inconvenient as we were expecting more expedited service since we were testing for a proof of concept. that's not to say that we never got a response or that our sales rep didn't get us a few calls with an engineer, because they did, but they also had some staffing issues and re-organization that they were going through that they explained to us was causing a lot of the delays. The only complaint about the product were some technical limitations of the ShareSync product and being able to select subfolders to sync without have new folders at the same level get automatically grabbed.
