The system has great capabilities, very rounded up, if you deep dive, you could really do a lot of the necessities of the e-commerce through on this single tool. My favorite tool is the Content Programation (Web activities) and all the segmentation you could do with the preinstalled targets
The licensing is inexpensive and the support staff - the ones that are still there - are supportive.
Key Strengths of HCL Commerce 1) Modern cloud-native architecture : The core of Commerce is its shift to a microservices and container-based approach, which provides several benefits. Faster Innovation Lower TCO Higher agility 2) Embedded AI capabilities 3) Integrated composable platform 4) Dedicated cloud support 5) Strong legacy foundation
The user experience of the system is not very intuitive, the system colors are too bright for everyday use, options are not easy to find in some cases, personal workspace is not customizable by the user and new users have a huge learning curve
Features that should work out of the box - like Recurring Orders - do not work. We have to take the broken core functionality and build off of it. The documentation is also not good at all, with missing or outdated instructions that do not match. The feature roadmap for the product is also not a straight line and predictable. It's always one step forward, two steps back. We have learned the hard way to wait at least a year before we implement any suggestions from the vendor because they might not release a fully-baked product and might decide to stop supporting it very quickly (i.e. Elastic Search).
1) Ongoing complexity for non-standard integration 2) Initial Learning curve 3) Lack of out of the box extensions 4) suitability for small businesses
