What is Hitachi VSP G Series (Legacy)?

Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform (VSP) G series are hybrid-flash data storage solutions supporting block application workloads.  Hitachi Ops Center management software centralizes system administration, analytics, automation, data protection and cyber-resiliency capabilities. Hitachi Clear Sight provides AI analytics SaaS observability to proactively monitor VSP systems accessed via a cloud-based portal. All VSP storage platforms run the Hitachi Storage Virtualization Operating System (SVOS) including secure multi-tenancy, quality of service (QoS) for mission-critical applications, and data mobility for data resiliency that span the complete VSP storage portfolio with a true symmetric active-active controller design. VSP G series can deliver up to 2.4 million IOPS and supports up to 34.6PB of internal storage capacity. Hitachi Vantara ensures continuous access to data with our 100% Data Availability Guarantee that spans the entire VSP portfolio.

The transformation program was not as simple as the vendor had indicated.The non disruptive migration at the time was quite com-lex and intrusive. The vendor did not apply the co9rrect due dilligence therefore we had platforms unable to be deployed due to incompatibility

Seamless blend of high performance and ease of management. The automated data tiering and robust management tools allow me to optimize storage without constant manual intervention, while its reability ensures uptime.

The resilience of the product and its new performance capabilities

1. The storage consists of FMD disks which are not seen in another storages. 2. These disks provide maximum throughput and IOPS for applications and DBs such as SAP HANA, Oracle and MySQL. 3. Overall reduction ratio is 6.85:1, which is much more higher than other vendors in the market. 4. Overall cost is much lower than the other competitive products in the market.

Complexity during the initial setup and configuration. While the platform is powerful, it can have a steep learning curve for users unfamiliar with enterprise-grade storage systems. Additionally, the cost of the system, including mantenience and upgrades, can be high, which might not be ideal when my organization has budget restrictions.

The management tooling

There are no such dislike about the product in terms of performance or throughput. The only thing that could be improved that there should be web browser based access for management of the storage, instead of windows based server.
