“Airwave Offers Extensive Network Control But Faces Transition and Performance Challenges”

I've been using Airwave for well over 10 years. It's a powerful webserver you can use to manage, monitor, and control all your wireless access points and switches on your campus. It can be cumbersome at times but overall it works pretty well and is great for keeping all your historical data. Though going to this platform at this time might not be a great idea since Aruba is moving everything slowly to the HPE greenlake platform (Aruba Central).

Powerful network management tool that provides centralized management and great visibility, but is lacking features that other tools have had for years. Its complicated to onboard non-aruba devices and those devices are lacking even more features.

Performance of Aruba AirWave Network Management Across Market Features

Aruba AirWave Network Management Likes & Dislikes

Like

Easy to search for clients and historical information of users. It's easy to make and run reports for the information you're looking for. It's easy to upgrade the server and to download backups.

Like

Centralized dashboard for the entire network health for cable and wireless networks. With a few clicks the exact issue can be detected. It shows all information you need on connected devices, including the amount of POE power.

Like

Strong wireless monitoring especially apt at mapping Access points locations and tracking connected devices

Dislike

Software can be buggy at times. Upgrades can be cumbersome, but support is usually pretty good at resolving any of those issues. It's a very resource intensive application.

Dislike

Hard to configure for non-aruba devices. Complicated to install, we ended up using an external vendor for this. Updates with new features can cause disruptions as it sometimes replaces existing features.

Dislike

High initial cost and limited integration with non-Aruba network equipment. No further development as the company is now betting on Aruba Central.
