What is Huawei Cloud Container Engine?

Huawei Cloud Container Engine is a software that provides container management and orchestration capabilities for cloud-native applications. It enables automated deployment, scaling, and management of containerized workloads using Kubernetes architecture. The software supports microservices, DevOps practices, and continuous integration and delivery. It offers resources scheduling, security controls, monitoring, and logging to enhance operational efficiency and reliability. Stable Kubernetes integration with inconsistent documentation and performance challenges

    4.0
    May 28, 2026
The platform provides a reasonably stable K8s-based orchestration environment with solid integration to other Huawei Cloud services (networking, storage, and security). CCE aligns well with standard K8s workflows, however the documentation quality of these services is inconsistent and troubleshooting guidance can be limited. Some advanced configurations require more manual intervention than expected, for example, checking how many and which deployments are using a specific PV or PVC storage. Our company is also actively investigating performance inconsistencies in our production deployments. While the orchestration and autoscaling configurations are implemented correctly based on official documentation, the platform has not consistently delivered the expected website performance improvements under scaling events. This has required additional performance analysis and tuning to determine which technological layer the bottleneck originates from.

Huawei Cloud Container Engine Likes & Dislikes

Like

1. Strong Kubernetes Integration: CCE closely follows upstream Kubernetes concepts and workflows, which reduces the learning curve for my team. We also use standard Kubernetes tooling, and our CI/CD integrations have worked well overall with CCE. 2. Integrated Cloud Ecosystem: Integration with Huawei Cloud's other services is convenient and simplifies deployment architecture for our projects that are already deployed in Huawei Cloud. 3. Relatively smooth initial setup experience: Initial cluster creation, node provisioning, and basic workload deployment are relatively straightforward.
